What could be tastier than the freshest homemade baked goods ?! Garlic bread rolls are small fluffy buns with fresh herbs. They are delicious and very easy to prepare. Most often I bake them for borscht. For me, garlic bread rolls and Ukrainian borscht – a perfect match.
In the classic recipe, these buns are made from premium wheat flour. I prefer to use a mixture of three types of flour: whole grain, rye and premium wheat. Such bread rolls are not only tasty, but also healthy.
Ingredients:
Dough
- Whole grain flour – 1 cup
- Wheat flour of the highest grade – 1 glass
- Rye flour – 1 glass
- Dry yeast – 1 tsp
- Sunflower oil – 3 tbsp. spoons
- Egg – 1 piece
- Sugar – 1 tbsp. the spoon
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Water – 1 glass
Garlic dressing
- Garlic – 4 cloves
- Dill – half a bunch
- Unrefined sunflower oil – 3 tablespoons
- Water – 30ml.
Cooking process
1 First, we need to knead the dough. To do this, mix all dry ingredients with water. You should get an elastic dough that should not stick to your hands. We form a ball, cover it with a towel and put it in a warm place for 1.5-2 hours.
2 After this time, knead the dough and form balls from it. From this amount of ingredients, I got 18 pieces. We spread them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper (or on a silicone mat) at a distance of 1 cm from each other. Grease the buns with an egg. Now we put a baking sheet with buns in an oven preheated to 180C (356F) degrees. The baking time is 20 minutes.
3 While the buns are baking, proceed to the preparation of the garlic dressing. To do this, squeeze the garlic through a press into a bowl. Add sunflower oil, water, salt and finely chopped dill to it. Mix everything well.
4 It remains only to get the bread rolls out of the oven and pour them over with our garlic dressing.
Our fragrant buns are ready.
Best of all, donuts are combined with Ukrainian borscht. I cook these two dishes in parallel.
