Tartar sauce is a popular cold sauce based on mayonnaise. It just goes well with fish dishes, boiled eggs, baked potatoes and fries. So, I add it to homemade fishburgers and Fish & Chips. You can also serve this sauce with red fish steaks.
There are many recipes for tartar sauce. I will share with you the recipe according to which I am preparing this sauce.
Ingredients:
- Mayonnaise – 150 ml.
- Greek yogurt – 150 ml.
- Any mild mustard – 1 tsp
- Dill pickles 1 pc. medium size
- Capers – 1 tsp
- Fresh Dill – half a bunch
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
- Lemon zest – 0.5 tsp
- Ground black pepper
Cooking process
Finely chop the dill pickles and capers. Wash the dill and chop finely. Rub the lemon zest on a fine grater.
Mix mayonnaise with Greek yogurt and mustard. Add cucumber, capers, dill, lemon zest and lemon juice to the resulting mass. Mix everything well. If desired, you can also add freshly ground black pepper.
Homemade tartar sauce is ready!
Since it contains Greek yogurt, I do not recommend storing this sauce, it is better to use freshly made. But, if you decide to prepare your sauce only on the basis of mayonnaise, then we store it in the refrigerator in a sealed container for several days.
