I recently wrote a recipe for cod liver salad https://takajaeda.com/en/recipes-en/cod-liver-salad/. Today I want to share another equally delicious salad with this delicacy. In the last 10 years, this mayonnaise salad for me has become the main one on the New Year’s table, pushing back the classic “Olivier” and “Under the fur coat”.
Ingredients (for 2 servings):
- Cod liver – 50 gr.
- Potatoes – 1-2 pcs.
- Eggs – 2 pcs.
- Pickled cucumbers – 1 pc. small size
- Cheese – 40-50 gr.
- Red onions – to taste
- Mayonnaise (or mayonnaise + sour cream)
- Dill for decoration
- Ground black pepper
Cooking process
Boil the potatoes in their skins. We cool and clean it. We rub the peeled potatoes on a fine grater to make the salad more tender.
Boil eggs hard-boiled (8 minutes after boiling water). Cool and peel. Also rub it on a fine grater.
Cut the red onions into small cubes. We marinate it in lemon juice for a few minutes. The amount of onion can be varied to taste.
Cut the pickled cucumber into small cubes.
Grate the cheese on a fine grater.
Cut the cod liver into cubes.
Wash dill, dry and chop finely.
Lay out all the ingredients in layers. Potatoes – mayonnaise – cucumber – cod liver – onions – eggs – mayonnaise – cheese. The amount of mayonnaise can be added at your discretion.
Decorate the salad with fresh dill on top and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper.
Put the finished salad in the refrigerator for several hours.
This mayonnaise salad with cod liver turns out to be very tender and delicious.
