Today I want to share with you an unusual chicken recipe. Chicken with prunes in a creamy sauce with walnuts is a very delicate and aromatic dish. Prunes give this dish an interesting sweet flavor. And thanks to the walnut, the chicken is so fragrant!
Ingredients:
- Chicken thighs – 1 kg.
- Onions – 2 pcs. (medium size)
- Cream 20% – 0.5 l.
- Wheat flour – 0.5 cups
- Butter – 20 gr.
- Pitted prunes – 150 gr.
- Peeled walnuts – 100 gr.
- Ground black pepper – to taste
- Salt
Cooking process
1 First, we need to prepare the chicken thighs. Cut off excess fat from them. Roll each thigh well in flour. Fry the chicken in a pan until golden brown.
Place the thighs in an ovenproof baking dish. Put a whole prune without pits on top. It must be washed well beforehand. Also, if time permits, prunes can be soaked for an hour and a half.
2 Finely chop the onions. Fry it in a preheated pan in butter. The onion should be light golden in color. After that, pour it onto the chicken with prunes.
3 Let’s move on to preparing the sauce for our dish.
Chop walnuts. Next, fry them in a pan in butter. Fry until a strong nutty smell appears.
Add cream, salt and pepper to the already fried walnuts in the pan. Mix everything well and bring the sauce to a boil. Then pour the resulting sauce over the chicken. We close the form with a lid and put it in an oven preheated to 180 C( 356F) degrees.
Bake until the sauce thickens. It takes approximately 35-40 minutes.
Tender chicken with prunes with a creamy sauce with the addition of walnuts is ready! We serve this dish with your favorite side dish. I especially love this dish when paired with couscous or rice. You can also sprinkle with chopped walnuts. I pre-fry them in a dry frying pan until golden brown.
