Tasty, bright, spicy, juicy, unusual – this is how you can describe this dish. All ingredients in it are in good harmony with each other. I am sure that many people will like chicken satay with peanut sauce.
Ingredients (for 5 servings):
- Chicken thighs – 8 pieces
- Peanut butter – 6 tbsp spoons (or peanuts 150 gr.)
- Ginger root – 5 cm
- Cilantro – bunch
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Ground zira – 0.5 tsp
- Chili pepper – 1 pc. (optional)
- Lemon – 1 pc.
- Green onions – a few feathers
- Curry powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Soy sauce – 2 tablespoons
- Salt
Cooking process
1 First of all, prepare the sauce (it will also serve as a chicken marinade). Pour cumin, curry and turmeric in a dry skillet and heat over medium heat for a minute.
2 If you don’t have ready-made peanut butter, then you need to cook it. To do this, pour the pre-peeled and roasted peanuts into a blender and grind them to a paste state (it took me about 10 minutes). Add to the resulting paste garlic, ginger, cilantro, seedless chili (optional), soy sauce, green onions, zest and juice of one lemon and fried spices, salt to taste. And we turn everything into a homogeneous mass. If you see that the mass is too thick, then during the mixing process you can add water.
3 The next step is to prepare the chicken. Remove the skin from the chicken thighs and separate the meat from the bone. Cut one thigh into 4 pieces. Mix half of the cooked sauce with chicken and put it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, I usually leave it to marinate overnight.
4 String the chicken on wooden skewers and fry over medium heat for 20 minutes (until golden brown), turning constantly. If you are making small kebabs, then you can reduce the frying time to 15 minutes.
The chicken satay is ready and ready to be served. Serve it with peanut sauce, finely chopped cilantro, a wedge of lemon or lime and chili (optional).
This original and beautifully presented dish deserves to be the main course even on the holiday table.
An alternative way to serve this dish is to wrap chicken skewers with sauce in lavash or put in pita bread.
